This site is the result of my Internet marketing class, but it’s also a reflection of my journey toward understanding fashion more responsibly and sustainably. I’m a junior at SOU, majoring in psychology and minoring in marketing. I’ve always had a passion for fashion, specifically styling outfits, keeping up with trends, and experimenting with new styles. But over time, I started to realize the darker side of the fashion industry and the negative impacts it has on the environment and the workers who produce the clothes we buy. This was something I couldn’t ignore, and it motivated me to make a change!
Why I Created This Blog
Like many people, I used to shop at fast fashion stores without giving much thought to the bigger picture. The clothes were affordable, trendy, and easily accessible. But I never really stopped to think about how they were made, where they came from, or the consequences of cheap clothing. It wasn’t until I began learning about the harmful environmental impact and unfair working conditions that I started to feel conflicted about my shopping habits. As a college student, I understand that sometimes clothing can be expensive, and there’s a temptation to go for the cheaper options. (Trust me, I get it.) I’m not here to shame anyone for their shopping choices. But I’m passionate about raising awareness and educating others about the costs of fast fashion.
Sustainable fashion
It doesn’t mean you have to completely overhaul your style or never buy a new item again. It’s about being more conscious of the choices you make and supporting brands and practices that align with your values.
I don’t want fashion to be viewed negatively, it just needs to be approached differently. That’s why I started this blog, also for the Internet marketing course I’m taking. It’s a space where I can share what I’m learning about sustainable fashion and help others who want to make more mindful choices when it comes to their wardrobes.
